In life you encounter many strangers, most of them become faded memories, some would turn into acquaintances, and very few become friends.

A couple of weeks ago my home served as the nest for a bunch of colorful birds. My friend, let's call her Birdie, had planned to host a soiree at her place but miscalculated the amount of folks that would show up. She ended up needing a new location and determined that my cage would just be the right place. Knowing her I understood that things might get out of hand but I couldn‘t resist a good time. So I agreed.

One by one the birds would fly in in their colorful dresses, exuding joy and a hunger to socialize.

A flock of them would carry ripened fruit, others brought spirited water. Both could transport one to new, unknown realms and open the evening up to insightful twitter and transcendent dance.

Time flew by, the night was filled with light. Everyone chanted on the top of their lungs harmonizing to the sound of the guitar while shaking their feathers.

And then out of nowhere. A loud chirp from downstairs. I snapped out of my trance and wanted to check what had happened on the lower levels of the birdhouse. I approached the entrance but before I could enter, Birdies head would appear through the door crack with a big smile, simply asking me for a mop and towels.

I wondered: „Is everything alright? What happened?“

Birdie again just smiled: „Don‘t worry about it... but I really need to know where the mop is now. But again, relax. Everything is under control“

„Under control?“ I questioned.

She nodded her head and insisted on the location of it.

When all the female birds returned to the top, they would all awkwardly smile at me ensuring everything was ok. The night would proceed and the sun would eventually rise. Great party.

When the little birds would leave the nest, I realized that the floor was somewhat wet. Birdie, the one to fly out last, smiled nervously and confessed that someone might have broken the sink but they somewhat fixed it. I laughed out loud. She laughed gleefully. Exhausted, yet content from the night we all spent I would wave her goodbye and go to sleep.
