Big, life-altering moments can lead to new perspectives. Finding truth in the mundane is much more rare.

I met my friend The Oracle to walk the dogs she was temporarily taken care of. The boys were named Snow and Ash. I got the most warm greeting packed with hugs, excited jumping around and licks I have ever experienced. The dogs were also happy to see me.

We walked down the promenade towards the sunset chatting about the latest changes in our life.

But let me backup for a second. Both The Oracle and I changed careers a while back. I was fed up with the path my work was taking and she was done oracleing for others. We would almost simultaneously change the directions of our lives. I decided to travel Southeast Asia for some time and she was exploring herself more in Europe. We were now both back in town but have not had much quality time, yet. Back to the promenade with the dogs.

We caught up and shared what has happened since the last time we hung out. Talked about about apartment searches, about our past week, about dog care, about the smell of berries, our victories, our defeats. We just chatted about the mundane, about life. A friendly conversation about nothing and everything. Hours went by and we would arrive at the end of the beach. The Oracle suggested turning around and heading homewards. The way back was unspectacular and we continued talking about the ordinary.

Eventually, we would go back to her home. We equipped ourselves with ice cold water, leaned back in our reclaimers, on her balcony overviewing the ocean. More laughter, more chatter and one more time she gave me a piece of profound knowledge.

Be grateful for the mundane, for ordinary days in an extraordinary life. Be grateful for friendship, be grateful for moments of silence, moments of peace. Love life, you are part of the universe. The universe loves you. The Oracles knows best.

Then she got tired and kicked me out. Perfect end to a perfect night.
